- Testing at Boss Strapping
An Important part of our manufacturing process
is the pull testing of our strapping to ensure:
1) the quality of the yarn
2) the consistency of the weave
3) the strength of the strap
There are two primary pull tests conducted on
woven narrow fabric (straps); break strength and
system strength.
- Break Test Strength
As the name implies, with this test the strap
(alone) is pulled until it breaks.
This is also referred to as the Tensile
Strength.
This tests the strength of the strap only.
At BOSS our typical Break Strength for our 1 ½”
strap = 5,175 lbs.
- System Break Strength
This tests the complete strap system; both the
strap and the buckle are pulled until failure.
The system break strength is almost always more
than the break strength. Also, the strap will
normally break before the buckle. At BOSS
our typical System Break Strength for our 1 ½”
strap and Buckle = 5,650 lbs
